Councillor seeks online feedback

FAIRFIELD Councillor Thang Ngo has embraced the power of the internet by setting up his own website designed to give residents more direct access to their representatives.

Cr Ngo has relaunched the site and said now was a good time for people to get involved.

"It's something I've had for a couple of years but on a very low profile,'' he said.

"With the growth in internet access recently, though, I think it's a tool that will be much more useful from now on.''

With that in mind, Cr Ngo has overhauled the site and said it would keep people up-to-date on issues he felt were important to the area.

"This is a good way that people can see what's happening locally and be involved in campaigns to make changes,'' he said.

"For instance, this week I've got the issue of leaking water near the Dutton Ln car park on the front page.

"That's something I first raised as an issue in 2004.''

Cr Ngo said he had already had positive feedback about the site.

"It's an easy way for people to contact me if they have concerns about a particular issue and I've already had people do that,'' he said.

"In the future I'd like to add a feature where we can poll people who visit the site to get a snapshot of how the community feels about particular issues.''
