WE refer to the September 19 excellent report on Linbar Towers (Champion, page 1). The council will have set a precedent if this is allowed to proceed. The development makes a mockery of council's development control plan (DCP), rendering it worthless.

We are aware of instances in which the council has not complied with its DCP, causing undue frustration to residents.

What a lame excuse it has offered! This will surely open the floodgates. The structure should be demolished.
The developers only have themselves to blame, are deserving of their losses and should carry the costs and consequences of their actions.

The mayor's comments that he thought the developers "had had a harsh enough penalty imposed and would caused financial hardship'' beg disbelief.

The council is known for chasing residents for minor infringements yet appears to let this slip through.

We thoroughly agree with Cr Thang Ngo's comments.
