Polling Booth "too cramped"
Fairfield City Champion, 28 March 2007

Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo has complained to the NSW Electoral Commissioner about the conditions at Cabramatta's largest polling booth, the Police Citizens' Youth Club.

Cr Ngo said the booth was too small for the number of voters who showed up on Saturday.

Queues overflowed onto Railway Parade and around the block into McBurney Road.

People waited for up to an hour in direct sunlight.  "I witnessed the extreme discomfort of the elderly and voters with small children" Cr Ngo said.

"This is just simply dangerous."

Cr Ngo said he feared the conditions may have caused some voters to leave without voting and has written to the electoral commissioner Colin Barry that the larger hall at the PCYC be used for future elections.
