Cabramatta Fears Police 'whitewash'
Sunday Telegraph 5 November

Cabramatta community leaders fear a Parliamentary inquiry into police resources in the crime ridden suburb will be a "whitewash".

The committee, chaired by Upper House MP Helen Sham Ho, visited the suburb on October 26 accompanied by a Deputy Police Commissioner, Jeff Jarratt.

Locals are furious they were not informed of the tour, nor invited to meet the committee.

With the inquiry's first hearing to be addressed by criminology experts, community leaders fear they will never be heard on the heroin-related problems in the area.

Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo said residents and business people had complained about the visit: "The committee attended a lunch that was supposed to include community leaders, but none who have made submissions were invited".
