Cabramatta the key to commissioner's job: Ngo
ABC Radio, 6 May 2002

Candidates for the position of New South Wales Police Commissioner have been invited to tour Cabramatta in Sydney's south-west, to get an understanding of the policing issues there.

Local councillor Thang Ngo has offered to show the prospective commissioners around and discuss key problems in the suburb.

Mr Ngo says in the past, policy makers have assumed knowledge and made policing decisions without experiencing the area first-hand.

He says Cabramatta has been an open sore for the New South Wales Police Service and candidates would do well to brush up on the issues before their interviews.

"I think Cabramatta is the key and the candidate that I think comes up with a clear, workable plan for Cabramatta will be the candidate that has a lead in winning the position," he said.
