EASTER ONE OF MANY CULTURAL CELEBRATIONS TODAY

Multicultural Australia has more than one reason to celebrate this weekend, with
Easter coinciding with Tamil, Thai, Lao and Cambodian New Year.

While many will be at church today for one of Christianity’s holiest days, many others, including Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo will be at Buddhist and Hindu Temples celebrating new year.

Thousands of Australians from a Cambodian background have been celebrating Lao new year at Wat Khemarangsaram in Bonnyrigg for the past three days.

Today, major celebrations will be held at Wat Pa Buddharangsee in Lumeah, Campbelltown and at the main Lao temple in Edensor Park.

"I will be at these celebrations to show support for these community’s and to celebrate Australia’s multiculturalism" said Cr Ngo.
