Letter to the Editor I note it was the NSW and the federal police commissioners who have again ignited the debate on ethnic gangs. What they have not told us is how saying "Lebanese gang" will help solve the increase in crime in our community. How does saying there is a Lebanese gang operating in Bankstown help narrow down the list of suspects, given many are of Arabic-speaking background in the area? The commissioners' comments are unhelpful red herrings in an attempt to shy away from plice ineffectiveness to control the spiralling level of violent crimes in Australia. Thang Ngo, Cabramatta |
