| Lao
and Thai New Year falls on a different day to the Lunar New Year which is
celebrated by Chinese and Vietnamese communities.
I've posted some pictures from the local Lao New Year celebration held at Wat Phrayortkeo Temple, 711-715 Smithfield Road, Edensor Park on Sunday, 14 April. Traditionally, monks bless everyone for the New Year followed by Buddhist chanting and cultural performances in songs and dancing. Outside there are always stalls by Lao restaurants, community groups and individuals serving mouth-watering exotic Lao delicacies. |
