LEO NGUYEN – PARENTS’ DESPERATE PLEA

The parents of two-year-old Leo Nguyen has made a public plea to the State Coroner to return the child’s vital organ so that little Leo can be put to rest in peace and as a whole.

Leo’s body was released to a funeral home in Dulwich Hill last Thursday, without his brain because it was still undergoing tests.

"His parents said Leo was a remarkably intelligent child and it would be inconceivable to bury him without his brain" said Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo, who has been asked by the parents to assist with funeral arrangements.

The Westmead Coroner’s Office has agreed to return the organ this Monday, but only if the child’s body is moved from Dulwich Hill back to Westmead.

The parents, who are Buddhists, says little Leo’s soul can not rest if he is moved to-and-fro and have asked for the organ to be brought to Dulwich Hill instead.

"I have already pleaded unsuccessfully on Friday on behalf of the Nguyens, but the Westmead Coroner’s Office would not budge" said Cr Ngo.

"Right now, the parents don’t want revenge, they don’t wish ill on the car thief, they just want their son whole and for his soul to rest in peace"

"Surely this is not too much to ask for" concluded Cr Ngo.

Cr Ngo will contact the Coroner’s Office first thing on Monday morning to plead the Nguyen’s case, again.
