I understand late last year, a decision was made to downgrade Cabramatta police station from category 1 to category 2 command.

A lower rating will obviously mean lower funding and fewer police on the streets.

You are only too aware that recently there has been a marked increase in violent crimes in the Fairfield Area in general.

On behalf of residents and businesses, I am asking you to urgently re-instate our police station back to category 1.

Local residents, businesses and council have been working very hard to improve the image of Cabramatta – the hugely successful Lunar New Year festival on Sunday,

6 February was an obvious example.

We only ask you to assist us by providing the police resources we rightfully deserve.
