A minor party in New South Wales
has warned the Federal Government it is not just One Nation's preferences it should be
concerned about.
The Unity Party, which was set up in protest against One Nation, says unless the Coalition
changes its immigration laws, it will withhold preferences.
Unity enjoyed a strong show of support in Sydney yesterday at a fundraiser for its federal
election campaign.
Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo, who will run as Unity's candidate for the Senate, says its
preferences may be crucial to the Government if it hopes to return to office.
"It's not One Nation preferences they need to worry about," he said.
"Preferences of progressive parties like Unity, the Greens, the Democrats and if you
add our vote together, I firmly believe it is going to add up greater than the One Nation
protest vote.
"That is something the Coalition needs to come to terms with."
