CR THANG NGO SUPPORTS PUBLIC INQUIRY INTO PHUONG NGO AFFAIR

Fairfield's only Vietnamese speaking councillor Thang Ngo said he was furious at the witch hunt being conducted on all Fairfield Councillors as a result of the Phuong Ngo prison party.

Cr Thang Ngo says he has been hurt at unfounded allegations levelled at him and other Fairfield Councillors.

"Rumours have been circulating that I am Mr Phuong Ngo's cousin or another distant relative, that I was at this New Year party, and that I've visited him in prison" said Cr Thang Ngo.

"For the record I am unrelated to Mr Phuong Ngo and in fact, have never met him or visited him in prison" he said.

"And I have never been a member of the Labor party.

"I acknowledge that the public maybe concerned of any undue influence Mr Phuong Ngo may still have on Fairfield Council, but in my opinion this fear is unfounded.

"However, if it takes a public Inquiry by the Minister for Local Government to clear Fairfield Councillors of linkages to Mr Phuong Ngo and end this witch hunt, then I will strongly support it".
