Fairfield council welcomes inquiry into Phuong Ngo

Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo says he is not aware of any evidence to suggest links between his council and the convicted killer Phuong Ngo.

The New South Wales Government will send two investigators to Sydney's south-west next week to interview Fairfield councillors after allegations Phuong Ngo may have influenced their decisions from inside Long Bay Jail.

Thang Ngo joined other independent Fairfield councillors who called for an inquiry this week into the matter.

He has welcomed the investigation which he says will help clear up any wrong perceptions in the community.

"I guess my support for the whole inquiry is not on the basis that there is linkages or any evidence that there is linkage between Phuong Ngo or improper linkages with Phuong Ngo and council," he said.

"I am responding to the public perception that there is influence and I support the inquiry because I think that is the way for all of us to clear our names."
