RED CROSS CALLING COUNCILLOR THANG NGO
One of the first to volunteer for this years "Red Cross Calling Door-Knock Appeal" is Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo.
This Appeal, to take place during all of March, is the charitys biggest fundraiser and the target for this year is $1.75m.
Cr Ngo has been appointed this years Red Cross Calling Appeal Ambassador for Fairfield.
"I was moved by the tremendous work of the Red Cross which spans the world yet also touches the lives of local Fairfield residents" said Cr Ngo.
Last year, the Red Cross was there to help refugees from Timor and Kosovo, victims of the floods in Vietnam, victims of the Glenbrook train disaster but importantly, the Red Cross still had time to provide nutritional breakfasts to needy children in the Fairfield area".
Cr Ngo feels honoured to be the Red Cross Ambassador in Fairfield.
"As a volunteer, Ive felt so much personal satisfaction because I can see my time has directly helped someone in need" he said.
Cr Ngo urges everyone to donate their time to the Red Cross Calling Appeal even if its just one day in March.
"And of course, if you can not volunteer your time, please be generous in March when one of our volunteers knocks on your door" he concluded.
Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact Selina Lund, the Red Cross Regional Office in Liverpool on 9822 2633.
