80 BREAK-INS IN ONE STREET,

MORE POLICE FOR CABRAMATTA NOW!

Residents of a quiet cul-de-sac claiming that they have been subjected to over 80 home break-ins in the last six months have spoken out about inaction by Cabramatta Police.

Almost every resident of this quiet Canley Heights Street has had their home broken into according to residents.

One resident, who saw the burglar leaving a neighbour’s home, is still waiting for the Police to take his statement after two weeks.

Another waited for over two hours for police to respond to the reported break-in.

While another has been told by Cabramatta Police that the solution is to "move somewhere else".

In desperation, residents of Avonlea Street have contacted Fairfield Councillor Thang Ngo for help.

"Residents are sick and tired of living in fear in their own home" said Cr Ngo.

"They are sick and tired of Police inaction - not one of the break-ins has been solved and residents have got no idea what stage the investigations are up to.

"My impression is that the Police has only just started taking this issue seriously since I’ve taken up their case.

"This problem is not confined to Avonlea Street, but Fairfield/Cabramatta in general".

Fairfield-Cabramatta desperately needs more Police, yet Cabramatta Police Station was recently downgraded from a level 1 to level 2 command according to Cr Ngo.

"For the sake of residents, I am calling on the Police Minister to immediately re-instate Cabramatta Police Station to level 1, and to increase the number of Police in our area now" he pleaded.
